About the Directory of Science Training Programs

The Directory of Science Training Programs began its life in 1982 as the "Directory of Student Science Training Programs for Pre-college Students." Funded for many years by the National Science Foundation, the directory is the only comprehensive catalog of science, mathematics, and engineering enrichment programs for students and teachers.

In the summer of 1998, Intel provided funding for the Science Training Programs Directory, consequently allowing us to update and improve this very important resource. Intel's sponsorship of the STP Directory is part of the Intel Innovation in Education initiative that has contributed more than $118 million worldwide to support science, math and technology education.

The training programs listed in this directory cover a wide variety of scientific disciplines and take place throughout the year at a variety of institutions—predominately at colleges and universities. Many of the programs listed specifically target members of groups traditionally under-represented in the sciences.

This directory is a first stop in locating programs. For further information on a specific program, you must contact the institution as indicated in the listing. If the information provided needs to be updated, please e-mail or call (202.785.2255) Society for Science & the Public.

NOTE: We remind you that a listing in this directory is a service to students, parents, teachers and faculty, and does not imply endorsement by Society for Science & the Public. No fees have been charged for listings and no endorsement of the programs listed is implied.
