Regional Awards

 

Paperwork to Submit Prior to the Fair

Online:

2 - 10 awards and certificates
Please register your fair TODAY, selecting the Science Fair link and then selecting Register a Science Fair. All winners must be a U.S. citizen to participate. No monetary awards given at the junior level. Judges may be provided. For questions, please email nsap_help@onr.navy.mil.
By Mail:

5 Regional and State Awards
To receive Army awards for your science fair, complete and mail the Acceptance Form to Peggy Lacewell no later than 60 days prior to the date of your fair. Army personnel may be available to serve as judges and present the Army awards. Winners must be in grades 9-12.

2 Certificates
Representatives from local AMS chapters may be available to serve as judges. Please refer to AMS web site for chapter list: Winning projects should be limited to the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. A summary of winners should be sent to the AMS by August 1.
1 Certificate
Complete and return by mail or email the AWG Acceptance Form to Valerie Honeycutt within one month of your fair date. Local members of the Association may be available for judging. Winner must be female.
1 Certificate
Complete and mail a copy of the Acceptance Form to Lucille O. Capra. Please notify Ms. Capra four weeks prior to your fair if you would like a Special Award Certificate signed by the U.S.P.H.S. Surgeon General presented at your awards ceremony.
1 Certificate & lapel pin
Complete the Award Acceptance Form and return as promptly as possible after your fair. Each regional special awards committee may select the recipient (any student in grade 7-12), but you are encouraged to contact your state or local professional engineering society for judging assistance (see enclosed information for more info).
Stockholm Junior Water Prize
3 certificates and possible advancement to state competition
Water Prize certificates are awarded to the high school students displaying the best water-related science projects. Awardees are eligible to participate in the state competition by submitting their research paper on-line by April 15. Water Environment Federation members may be available to serve as judges.

1 Certificate &amp: Medallion
The Acceptance Form should be sent to ASM Materials Education Foundation as soon as possible after the conclusion of the fair so as to allow for timely follow-up contact with award recipient. Formal Certificate and Medallion will be mailed in July or August.
1 Certificate
Complete and return by mail or email the AWG Acceptance Form to Valerie Honeycutt within one month of your fair date. Winner must be female.
Certificate, lapel pin and entry booklet
Masterlist of winners is due from the fair 15 days after their fair. Nominees must complete and return the 2008 DCYSC entry booklet to Society for Science & the Public by the early June deadline to be considered an entrant.

Fair Directors must complete the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association Acceptance Form and mail it to JoAnn Blaalid or complete the form online within 30 days of the fair. Winning project should be in the Engineering category.

Complete and submit the Award Acceptance Form to Mu Alpha Theta no more than 30 days after the date of your fair by post or by email to matheta@ou.edu. Affiliated fair judges should use the criteria supplied to select the winner.

1 Certificate and winner(s), including individual members of a winning team, will be eligible to enter a drawing for a Ricoh digital camera. The award acceptance form must be postmarked no later than May 4, 2008.

Please complete the Award Acceptance Form and return it as promptly as possible after your fair. Winners must be in 11th grade with an exhibit in the area of plant or animal in vitro biology or tissue culture.

Complete and mail a copy of the Acceptance Form to Lucille O. Capra.

As soon after your fair as is convenient, please complete and mail one copy of the U.S. Metric Association Acceptance Form to Dr. William Hooper.
1 Certificate & Medallion
The awards committee or fair director must fill out the "Preliminary Certificate" and present it to the recipient at the time of the awards announcement. Give the "Award Acceptance Form" to the recipient asking that they follow the instructions carefully and note the deadline. The Award Acceptance Form has instructions on how to sign-up ONLINE to accept the award. This can only be done ONLINE and must be completed no later than May 10, 2008. Winner must be in 11th grade and competing in the Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Chemistry category.

The Winner Application Sheet should be provided to the student with the authorized fair director's signature. The student is responsible for returning the Winner Application Sheet and a copy of the project abstract to Society for Science & the Public by May 31, 2008. Winners must be in grades 9-12.

The Chair of the awards committee or the fair director is asked to fill in the name of the award winner on the certificate and present to the winner at the awards ceremony or awards announcement. Winner must be entered under the category of Behavioral Sciences. No further action required.
1 Certificate & Medallion
The certificate and NOAA medallion will go to one individual (middle or high school) selected from among all the general award categories whose research emphasizes NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in Earth's environment and conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet our Nation's economic, social, and environmental needs. No further action is required.
