Becky Nutt has taught at Oneida Nation High School (ONHS) in Oneida, WI for 17 years. At ONHS, she teaches Biology, Advanced Biology, Environmental Science, and Science Research. Becky holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with an emphasis in Environmental Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mankato State, MN. She is member of the Wisconsin Science Leadership Team, charged with rolling out the Next Generation Science Standards to Wisconsin teachers, and the Wisconsin Girls Collaborative Champions Board.

ONHS serves Native American students through a culture based curriculum. The T-Hawk Science Research program at ONHS has two components: a year-long course in Science Research, and after-school enrichment activities. Students in Science Research develop projects and compete in local, regional, state, and national competitions, including the National American Indian Science and Engineering fair sponsored by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society. The enrichment aspect of the program seeks to expose students to a wide variety of science and engineering concepts to foster curiosity and spark interest in research. Activities in Nutt’s program, supported by the Society for Science & the Public Fellowship, include after-school projects, visits to labs on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison, and presentations by visiting scientists and engineers.
