Cappi Coleman received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from East Central University, and her Master of Science in Biology from Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX. Her thesis was a genetic comparison of two subspecies of Mexican Free-tailed bat.
For the past six years, Coleman has taught at Moss Public School, a pre-kindergarten to 12th grade school in rural Hughes County, Oklahoma. She is also an alumna of Moss Public School, having attended from kindergarten through 12th grade. Coleman is the only teacher in the science department. She teaches middle and high school science classes, including Biology I and II, Chemistry, and earth, life and physical sciences.
Coleman is also the director of the Moss Science Fair, First Lego League Team, First Tech Challenge Team, the academic team coach, and scholastic team coordinator for the high school. As a Fellow of Society for Science & the Public, Coleman is dedicated to promoting research opportunities to her students. Coleman and her students are active Blue Thumb Stream monitoring volunteers, testing water quality of a local stream in their area.
Coleman and her husband Bryan have three daughters who attend Moss School. They are active in student council, 4-H, Future Farmers of America, basketball, softball, and raise and show Bohr goats. She is a NASA Endeavor Fellow, Cohort 3 member, and a Solar System Ambassador.
